Medical aid article for female paraplegians enabling them to perform ISC (Intermittent Self-Catheterisation) without help. Ergonomic handles and non-slip covers allow use even with impeded dexterity of the hands. The labia divider spreads the labia through spring pressure and keeps them in position. Both hands remain free for the process of catheterisation.

The labia divider is made of eloxated aluminium with silicone covers (both materials are kind to the skin).

Application

Take the labia divider by the handles in both hands with the spreading jaws pointing down and press the handles together. Place the closed jaws between the labia and release the handles slowly and carefully. The labia divider will open and hold the labia in spread position with the opening of the urethra laid bare. After catheterisation press the handles together again to re-open and remove the implement.

Cleaning and Disinfection

For cleaning use water or soapy water, for disinfection a disinfectant appropriate for surfaces. You can also use sterilization by steam (by autoclave); it isn’t even necessary to remove the covers from the handles for this purpose.
